Announcements + Saplings Begins This Saturday

KIRTAN
Last Friday, Living Tree hosted a kirtan with Yeshu Mandala, and it was so luminous and powerful, I wished I could share it with all of you! Proceeds went to the Dalit Freedom Network, and it's a pleasure to know that our expressions of divinity create tangible justice in the world. The next kirtan will be held on a Friday in late August. Details soon.

NEW SITE!
This blog has been home to Living Tree since its opening, and I'm happy to announce that our new site is now up and running! Visit us at livingtreeyoga.com to learn about our classes, events, and other offerings.
I'll continue this blog with updates and reflections, so visit regularly to keep up with our studio happenings.

YOGA for KIDS
This Saturday begins our new Yoga for Kids series, Saplings, for ages 3-8. This hour-long class uses story as a guide, introducing children to yoga through songs, storytelling, and physical movement. A healthy snack is served afterward (this week: vegan muffins packed with blueberries), and is included in the $8 class fee. Partial scholarships based on household income are available for those who qualify.

If you are interested, or know someone who is, please call 303.827.6954 to pre-register for this Saturday. Drop-ins are fine too; just arrive 10 minutes prior to class to fill out a parent/caregiver contact form.

This Friday, join special guest Yeshu Mandala for an evening of kirtan at Living Tree Yoga!

Kirtan is call and response chanting in the Indian devotional tradition. Accompanied by harmonium and drums, the simple melodies are powerful and lovely, and you'll find yourself easily singing along. Mats and some pillows will be available; please bring a blanket or cushion if you would like something else to sit on.

This event is by donation, with all proceeds going toward ending oppression and slavery of the Dalit people of India. For more information on Dalits, visit the Dalit Freedom Network.

Private classes can be taken together by up to 4 people.
Class cards are non-transferable, non-refundable, and expire 1 year from date of purchase.

JUNE SPECIAL Through the month of June, Private Instruction classes can be purchased for only $50 (a $20 discount). Since these classes can be attended by up to 4 people and scheduled when you choose, this is a great opportunity for you and a few friends to have a small class for less than the price of a drop-in class.

Class Descriptions
Beginnings*
If you’ve always wanted to try yoga--whether you’re an athlete interested in becoming faster and more flexible, or someone whose toes seem an impossible reach away--this class is for you. Starting with the breath, Beginnings moves through basic yoga postures, including sun salutations and balancing poses. The mood is light and unintimidating, with plenty of space to ask questions.
*This class is offered on a temporary rotating basis, so now is the time to jump in!

Vinyasa
Vinyasa means “flow,” and these classes feature a flow from one asana (pose) to another. Guided by the breath, we begin with sun salutations, and flow into postures that emphasize strength, balance, and flexibility. Classes are challenging, and created to encourage growth in your yoga practice.

Yesu Yoga
Yesu (Yeshu) Yoga is a Christ-centered practice designed to incorporate prayer into the body. Through breath, asana, and meditation, students can explore the discipline of yoga—in addition to ancient Christian meditative practices—in a new way.

Yoga for Kids* Beginning in July 2009
Ages 3-7
Using story as a guide, children reinvent the practice of yoga through music, storytelling, and physical movement.
An after-class snack is included.

Living Tree Launch

Join us to celebrate the launch of Living Tree Yoga this Saturday, June 13 at 7:00 p.m.

See the new studio, mingle with fellow yogis and yoginis, and learn more about our classes as we bless the new space. You'll also have the opportunity to purchase packages for classes beginning the following week. And through June, private instruction will be offered at a special rate.

Drinks and light refreshments will be served. Children are welcome. Hope to see you there!
